Ikoyi Chapmans Unveiled as Strategic Partnership Sets Stage for Pan-African Beverage Expansion
Saturday, July 11, 2026 – A landmark strategic partnership has been unveiled to introduce Ikoyi Chapmans, a premium ready-to-drink non-alcoholic beverage, to the African market, beginning with Nigeria before expanding across the continent. The partnership was formalized during a trade and investment agreement signing ceremony held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the headquarters of CAADES Group in Lekki, Lagos.
The event brought together business leaders, investors, industry stakeholders and members of the media to witness the official launch of a venture expected to redefine the ready-to-drink beverage category in Africa. Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Chima Anyaso, Chairman of CAADES Group and the project’s strategic partner disclosed that the initiative had been in development for several years before reaching its current stage.
According to him, the partnership represents the culmination of years of planning aimed at transforming one of Nigeria’s most iconic beverages into a globally recognized consumer brand. Dr. Anyaso commended the vision and commitment of the brand’s innovators, Mike Robinson and Garry Robinson, two British entrepreneurs who were born and partly raised in Nigeria.
Growing up in the country, they developed a lifelong appreciation for the classic Nigerian Chapman a refreshing blend of fruit flavour and bitters which inspired them to recreate the experience for consumers around the world.
Reflecting on the inspiration behind the brand, Mike Robinson said the idea was driven by nostalgia and a desire to preserve one of Nigeria’s unique beverage traditions. “Our parents had a wonderful experience living in Nigeria, and as children growing up here, Chapman became one of those unforgettable drinks that stayed with us throughout our lives.
“It was always our dream to produce it commercially. After leaving school, Garry and I became professional squash players, but the ambition to bring this remarkable drink to a wider audience never left us.
“We approached several beverage companies over the years, but many were interested only in energy drinks or conventional fruit drinks. We were offering something completely different—a drink with a unique flavour profile and heritage.”
Following years of product development, the Robinson brothers secured a manufacturing partnership and launched the brand under the name Ikoyi Chapmans.

The beverage is already available in selected bars and hospitality outlets in the United Kingdom, with plans underway for widespread retail distribution across Nigeria and other African markets. Dr. Anyaso described the partnership as more than a commercial venture, saying it represents an opportunity to celebrate Nigerian culture while building a world-class African beverage brand.
“Our vision is to make Ikoyi Chapmans a household name across Africa by offering consumers a refreshing beverage that evokes cherished memories while celebrating the richness of the Nigerian experience. “Although Mike and Garry Robinson are British by nationality, they remain Nigerians at heart.
Together, we are committed to reshaping Africa’s beverage industry through innovation, quality and strategic partnerships.” Also speaking at the event, Dr. Efosa Ogbeide, a core partner in the project, revealed that an extensive pan-African distribution strategy has already been developed.
He said Ikoyi Chapmans is expected to become available in supermarkets, retail outlets, hospitality establishments and neighbourhood stores across Nigeria within weeks, with phased expansion into key African markets to follow.
According to Dr. Ogbeide, the company is also preparing for a nationwide consumer launch that will feature product activations, experiential marketing campaigns, signature serving rituals and innovative cocktail recipes designed to showcase the drink’s versatility.
He further disclosed that additional product variants and stock-keeping units (SKUs) are already under development to meet the preferences of different consumer segments across Africa. “Chapman has remained a household name in Nigeria for decades.
Ikoyi Chapmans will redefine how consumers enjoy this iconic beverage by delivering a premium ready-to-drink experience suitable for multiple consumption occasions, whether enjoyed on its own or as the perfect base for cocktails.”
The story of Ikoyi Chapmans dates back to the late 1960s at the prestigious Ikoyi Club in Lagos, where the original Chapman was first created by a bartender.
Inspired by this rich heritage, Mike and Garry Robinson have transformed a nostalgic Nigerian favorite into a modern beverage brand with global ambitions.
